Fresh mulch is the fastest, cheapest visual upgrade a property can get. It also does real work — insulating roots from temperature swings, holding moisture in the soil, suppressing weeds, and slowly breaking down to feed the beds underneath.
Every Mulching job includes:
- Hand-edged bed lines before installation
- Hand-weeding and old mulch pull-back
- Double-shredded hardwood, applied at 2–3 inches
- Choice of natural, dark brown, or black
- Mulch kept off plant crowns and tree trunks
- Final blow-off of lawn and walkways

Common Questions
How often should mulch be refreshed?
Once a year is standard. Heavily trafficked or sun-exposed beds may benefit from a light top-up mid-season.
Will you remove the old mulch?
Usually we top-dress over what's there, after pulling it back from plant crowns. Full removal is available on request if buildup has gotten too deep (over 4 inches).
What color do you recommend?
Natural double-shredded hardwood ages to a soft gray-brown that flatters most homes. Dark brown reads richer; black reads sharper but fades faster in sun.
Is mulch safe around pets?
Hardwood mulch is non-toxic. Avoid cocoa mulch if you have dogs — it can be harmful. We don't use cocoa mulch as a default.
